Game Name Generator

Pick a genre and a tone. Get a batch of original game title ideas, built on your device the moment you press Generate.

Words per name
Names per batch

Names are assembled locally from a built-in word bank. Nothing you type is uploaded.

How to use the game name generator

    1. 1
Pick a genre and a tone. The genre decides the vocabulary, so a fantasy set pulls crowns, runes and citadels while a sci-fi set pulls orbits, relays and fleets. The tone layers an adjective flavour on top, from epic and dark to cozy and retro.
    2. 2
Narrow it if you want to. Type a keyword or two to weave your own word into the titles, and set Starts with if you want every name to open on the same letter.
    3. 3
Choose the shape and the size. One to four words per name, five to twenty names per batch. Press Generate names.
    4. 4
Take what you like. Click a name to copy it, use the dice beside one name to swap just that one, or Copy all to grab the whole batch as a list.

What this game name generator supports

Fifteen genres and ten tones, so the vocabulary actually changes when you change the setting. Every example below is produced by the generator on this page, not written by hand.

How the generator builds a name

There is no black box here. Every title is a short combination of words pulled from the genre and tone pools and stitched together with one of four patterns. That is why the same settings keep producing new names instead of repeating a fixed list.

    WordsPatternLooks like
    1NounBalatro, Hades, Limbo

4Adjective + Noun + of + Noun, Verb + the + Adjective + Noun, or Preposition + the + Adjective + NounCrimson Echoes of Eldoria

Balatro, Hades, Limbo, Slay the Spire and Into the Breach are real games, listed in the right-hand column only so you can see the shape a pattern makes. Everything else in that column was produced by this page. The generator itself never emits an existing title, because it only ever assembles words from its own pools.

What this tool does not do

It is more useful to be blunt about the edges than to oversell them.

    • It does not check availability. No website can tell you whether a title is free on Steam, the App Store or a trademark register. Search the name yourself before you commit to it.
    • It does not know your game. It combines words; it has not played what you are building. Use it to widen the field, then pick with your own judgement.
    • It does not use a language model. No request leaves your browser and there is no API behind it, so there is nothing to rate-limit and nothing to pay for.
    • It does not save anything. Close the tab and the batch is gone. There is no account and no history by design.

    Game name generator FAQ

Is this game name generator free, and do I need an account?

It is free and there is no account, no sign-up and no download. Open the page, press Generate, and copy whatever you like.

How does this video game name generator work?

The page ships with a word bank of adjectives, nouns and verbs grouped by genre and tone. When you press Generate, JavaScript combines those words using a fixed set of name patterns, such as Adjective + Noun. Nothing is sent to a server, so the result appears instantly.

Are the generated game names unique, or already taken?

No. This tool does not check whether a name is already in use. No website can know what is registered across every storefront, app store and trademark register. Treat the output as a starting point and search the name yourself before you commit.

Can I use the game names commercially?

The names are generated on your machine from a generic word bank, so there is nothing to license. That said, the tool cannot guarantee a name is free of trademark conflicts, so check a trademark database before you build a brand on one.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The layout collapses to a single column on narrow screens, the controls stay thumb-sized, and the results list never scrolls sideways.

Do you upload the keywords I type?

No. The word bank, the name patterns and the generator all run inside your browser. Keywords you type are used locally and are never transmitted.
